Albanian BCC approves draft law on the mining sector

Business Consultative Council approved, on Thursday, a draft law "On the Mining Sector in the Republic of Albania". The meeting today under the direction of Minister of Economy, Trade and Energy, Mr. Dritan Prifti, KKB discussed the draft drawn up by METE and praised the innovation that this bill brings.

In his speech, Minister Mr. Dritan Prifti expressed interest in hearing thoughts and comments of members of the Business Advisory Council.  Focusing on the draft law "On Mining Sector in the Republic of Albania", Minister Mr. Dritan Prifti said the changes made are essential and will enable mining permits abuse in our country. He stressed"We have introduced some concepts that are necessary, as he receive the income support division of the local mining, a claim that has been made by the Prime Minister personally. 
 
According to this concept, a subject that seeks to obtain a mining permit must meet financial guarantee, which consists of depositing in a bank 10 percent of the value of investment envisaged for the exploitation permits, which will bring opportunities and the elimination of that mining permits be granted to companies that are unable to use them. If the mining entity arrives to realize this investment plan within the first year, then this amount is returned. "We put some criteria on the size of the area for a mineral permission. These changes are needed to better discipline the sector, in favor of the state, the companies that are serious, but in favor of the local community ", said Minister Mr. Priest.
