Getting started

Spanair seeks to launch Belgrade-Barcelona route

Network carrier Spanair of Spain has sought permission to establish a route to Belgrade from Barcelona, the director of the Serbian Directorate for Civil Aviation said.

"In a month we will decide whether or not to award Spanair a licence," Nebojsa Starcevic told a news conference.

No airlines currently run flights between Belgrade and Spain.

Spanair (www.spanair.com) would be the first operator to fly to Barcelona in 20 years.

The company is a member of Star Alliance (www.staralliance.com), the world's largest airline network.
