Albania’s Sept. trade deficit at 31.1bn leke, up 18.1% on the year

Albania showed a trade deficit of 31.1 billion leke (225.5 million euros, USD332.7 million) in September, up 18.1% on the year and 17.1% on the month, the National Institute of Statistics (www.instat.gov.al) reported.

Exports totaled 9.5 billion leke (69.2 million euros, USD102.1 million), declining by 10.9% from a year earlier and rising 33.6% on the previous month.

Imports were 40.6 billion leke (294.7 million euros, USD434.8 million),  posting a 5.1% increase year on year and a 20.6% rise from August, INSTAT said in a statement.

Of total trade transactions, 68% were with European Union countries.

Greece and Italy remain Albania's main trade partners.
