A law on the Albania’s civil service is a major issue of debate between the new government and the opposition, as Prime Minister Edi Rama pushed forward a decision to delay its implementation for six month.
The law was passed with all-party consensus in urgency in late May aiming to show Brussels that the country’s political class was able to compromise on a major issue. The law was part of recommendations the European Union had made for Albania to push forward is membership bid in the body.
The new government said postponing implementation was necessary because the previous government had not compiled other regulations accompanying the law and which are needed for its implementation reports Tirana Times.
