Australia has seen a continuous growth in the number of visas issued for migrants from Greece, recent data from the Australian Department of Immigration revealed.
The figures show that there was an increase in the number of Australian temporary and permanent visas granted for Greek nationals in the last fiscal year. The increase was seen in nearly all Australian visa categories, with a significant rise in temporary 457 visas, up by nearly 70 percent. The number of 457 visas for Greeks has increased in the three straight years, from only 57 visas granted in 2010-11, to 156 in 2011-12 and now 264 in 2012-2013.
Besides, there is a approximately 61.5 percent increase in the number of permanent immigrants under family and skilled migration routes during the period between 2011-12 and 2012-13, from 325 to 525 issued visas.
These figures, according to immigration experts, may relate to spouses and children of Australian citizens who were born in Australia but returned to Greece reports Migration Expert.
